Talofa and welcome to Tuvalu Gender Equality and Social Inclusion information Hub! As a small island nation, Tuvalu faces unique challenges and opportunities in promoting equality and inclusion for all its citizens. In this hub, we aim to shed light on the efforts being made to advance gender equality and social inclusion in Tuvalu, as well as the importance of these initiatives for the nation's sustainable development.

Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary condition for achieving social justice and inclusive growth. In Tuvalu, significant progress has been made in recent years to ensure that women and girls have equal opportunities in all spheres of life. Efforts have been directed towards increasing women's participation and leadership in decision-making processes, promoting access to quality education and healthcare, and preventing gender-based violence. Furthermore, Tuvalu recognizes the critical role of women in sustainable development and climate change resilience.

Social inclusion is another vital aspect of Tuvalu's development agenda. The nation recognizes the rights of persons with disabilities, youth, the elderly, and other marginalized groups to fully participate in society. Tuvalu has taken steps to enhance accessibility, promote inclusive education and healthcare, and provide support services to ensure that no one is left behind.

Therefore, our country has committed to progress gender equality and social inclusion through several instruments, including the Te Kete and the Te Kaniva. The National Gender Equity Policy and the Policy for the Tuvalu National Policy for Persons with Disabilities are two crucial instruments stating our priorities and providing guidelines for the whole of government, civil society, communities, and development partners. Those instruments highlight the importance of partnerships among government agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners to drive change and create an inclusive society.

Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable Tuvalu, where every individual can thrive and contribute to a brighter future.
